Teach a man to fish…and he’ll deplete the whole friggin’ ocean.

Well, almost. It’s not too late to prevent this imminent disaster from happening and in an effort to help things move along into the right direction Selfridges launched Project Ocean.

From 11 May – 12 June 2011, Selfridges is partnering with more than 20 environmental and conservation groups, as well as fashion designers and top chefs, to celebrate the beauty of the ocean, highlight the issue of over-fishing, help us all understand the threats to the ocean and make positive choices about the right fish to buy and eat.
Committed to its journey into implementing environmentally responsible practices, Selfridges has eliminated all endangered fish stocks across all their restaurants and food halls. To help consumers change their habits, a free Project Ocean “Fish Guide” has been developed in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) to identify which fish to eat and which to avoid, suggesting alternatives to those under threat. Selfridges wants there to be healthy oceans and fish in the sea in 100 years and beyond.

The first prize for this competition is dinner for two people at HIX (Selfridges) on the 25th of May, when a big Project Ocean event will be taking place. The second prize is a Katherine Hamnett t-shirt (worth £40, £10 goes to the Project Ocean charity).
Feeling altruistic and a tad lucky? Check out below how you can enter this competition to win these fab prizes.
