Description

Learn how to make this easy and delicious homemade Asian Pear Chutney. Best served as part of a cheeseboard or with meat.


Ingredients

  • 1.5kg (2lb 5oz) Asian pears, peeled, cored and chopped
  • 225g (1/2 lb) onions, peeled and finely chopped
  • 375ml (1 1/2 cups) white wine vinegar
  • 200g (1 cup) brown sugar
  • 145g (1 cup) raisins
  • 225g (1 cup) dates, chopped

Instructions

  1. Place all the ingredients in a large, heavy-bottomed pan.
  2. Stir over a medium heat until all the sugar has dissolved then bring to the boil. 
  3. Lower the heat to a simmer, then cook, uncovered, for an hour or until the chutney has thickened. 
  4. Pour into hot sterilised jars and seal. 
  5. Label, once cooled. Enjoy!
