Do you own a Tefal ActiFry? If so, what is your favourite go-to recipe?
After for cooking for over 10 years, at least once a day, I have to admit my kitchen cupboards are bursting with all kinds of tools and gadgets.
It's not often that I get tempted by the latest gizmos inventors come up with. Yet, the Tefal ActiFry kept popping up in conversations and websites.
Years ago, I played with a deep fat fryer a few times but was left unimpressed.
The sheer danger of bubbling oil scared me, the oily stench that filled the house after dinner was off-putting and eating such fatty foods didn't rest very easy on my healthy conscience. Chips remained off the menu.
Funnily enough, I still haven't got around to experimenting with potato fries but I have managed to make a sweet potato version. Unfortunately, the latter doesn't come out crispy, even when dusted with cornflour.
Yet, in a conventional oven it can be hard to pull off. I've also attempted the ubiquitous cauliflower rice that many low carb dieters enjoy as a staple and the results were so-so.
There is a definite knack to preparing food in the Tefal ActiFry and hopefully after enough experimenting I'll hopefully crack it.
What I'm very happy with are these "roasted" cauliflower florets. One head of cauliflower takes about 20 minutes to cook, and two heads 35 minutes. This is a healthy snack to enjoy during the day or enjoy as a side dish.
Would you like to save this?

Curried Cauliflower with Yogurt
- Total Time: 30 minutes
- Yield: 2 side dish servings 1x
Description
Are you looking for the perfect air fryer cauliflower recipe? Look no further! Here we used the Actifry to create a great Indian side dish.
Ingredients
- 1 small cauliflower
- 5ml (1 tsp) curry powder
- 15ml (1 tbsp) vegetable oil
- 150g (5oz) Greek yogurt
- 10ml (2 tsp) caster sugar [optional]
- season to taste
Instructions
- Cut the cauliflower into 1cm (½ inch) florets and place in the Actifry.
- Sprinkle the curry evenly on top of the cauliflower and add the oil.
- Set the machine to run for 20 minutes.
- Stir the sugar into the yogurt.
- Remove the cauliflower and enjoy dipping in the yogurt!
Notes
If you don’t have an Actifry, you can roast the cauliflower in the oven instead.

Well, at the risk of sounding repetitive and boring - I am also going to say 'chips'. I'm not great in the kitchen, though keep meaning to rectify this and our children have never had home cooked 'chips' - always frozen. Being as the chip pan bubbling away (not often I have to say) when I was little and the smell of the oil, the cleaning of the pan and disposing of the oil is a memory that I don't really wish to give my children - just to have 'modern home made chips' would be good. 🙂

It would have to be chips. I loathe the oven baked ones and as we are trying to be healthier we only use the deep fryer for chips about once every 6-8 weeks 🙂

Chips. Used to have an actifry but it stopped working recently. Great for chips, potato wedges, mini roast potatoes. I should have been more adventurous.
Things like scampi and fishfingers don't work very well in an Actifry as it knocks off the batter and breadcrumbs.
I will be getting another Actifry.
