Ever felt like exploring beautiful historical cathedral cities right here in the UK? You most certainly can! Norwich is a medieval and historical city, located in Norfolk, which is roughly 100 miles northeast of London.
Your journey to Holiday Inn Norwich City will be made possible by Abellio Greater Anglia. Book your stay at the Holiday Inn Norwich City, and Norwich will only be a short train ride away.
Abellio Greater Anglia runs trains between London Liverpool Street and Norwich daily. Departing every 30 minutes, the journey takes roughly 1 hour and 50 minutes. If you book in advance you can even bag a fare as low as £10 each way, which is a steal!
Holiday Inn Norwich City reservations
Before you set foot on your journey, you need to make reservations at the Holiday Inn Norwich City in Norfolk. Based on Carrow Road, the hotel is situated close to the train station and you can spend the whole weekend on foot as we did. If you're an avid football pan and there's a game on, booking an Executive room is simply a must. You can actually watch the game taking place at Norwich City Football Club from your hotel room!
Frequented by business and leisure guests, Holiday Inn Norwich City Hotel has 150 air-conditioned, light and modern bedrooms to choose from, including 24 Executive Rooms, 4 Suites, and 8 Accessible Rooms. Make sure you book a room in advance and request a specific room that fits you best.
All rooms are equipped with high-speed internet access, an LCD TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee. My Executive room was clean, spacious, and had space for me to get some work done on the laptop.
Holiday Inn Norwich City's location
The favourite part about my stay at the Holiday Inn Norwich City is the actual location of the hotel. It's a mere 10 minutes' walk from Norwich's city center, which means you can save money on public transport and parking. Be warned though, Norwich is quite large and we averaged over 20 000 steps per day - a great way to work off all the calories after enjoying decadent meals in the city.
If you are travelling by car, it is a short drive from the A47 and parking is available onsite.
Holiday Inn Norwich City's facilities
If you like to keep in shape while travelling, you'll be pleased to hear that Holiday Inn Norwich City Hotel has a gym and fitness centre, which includes a number of machines for muscle strengthening or cardio workouts.
Another one of the hotel's facilities is the comfortable lobby. Since I travel everywhere with my laptop, I generally love to sit in the hotel lobby and work. Conveniently, the hotel lobby is equipped with a Lobby Bar and a Restaurant. The Lobby Bar is spacious and convenient if you want to enjoy a soda or coffee while you work. They also have a vast drinks menu, which you can check out here.
If you travel with your friends or colleagues, the hotel is also a great place to socialise. You can easily watch all of your favourite sporting events on BT Sports and SKY TV while sipping on freshly ground coffee or a freshly pulled pint.
Holiday Inn Norwich City's breakfast
On Friday and Saturday night the hotel's restaurant was chock-a-block, so we didn't get to try the lunch or dinner menu. The restaurant hosts breakfasts, lunches, and dinners with an a la carte menu and daily specials. There is something for everyone! Just take a peek at their restaurant menu yourself. If you're looking into organising a birthday, Christmas or corporate party, Holiday Inn can accommodate such arrangements.
Breakfast-wise, you'll come across the usual suspects of an English breakfast, such as sausages, grilled tomatoes, black puddings, bacon, and hash browns. Various fresh fruits, yoghurts, cereals and can choose from various types of juices. The best part is that kids under 12 years of age stay and eat for free!
While none of the food could be faulted, I do feel that people on special diets are somewhat neglected. Case in point, as someone who has given up pork this year, there was no alternative meat option and the breakfast was riddled with pork. Members of certain religious communities and the pork-averse are reduced to vegetarianism. Speaking of which, vegans are also stuffed in this regard.

If you want to explore another beautiful Cathedral city, you should also make your way up to the City of York. There are also plenty of things to see in York so don't miss out on another medieval city!
P.S. I was a guest of Holiday Inn.
