FlexiSpot BS11 PRO Review
Unboxing and assembly
The FlexiSpot BS11 Pro in a big cardboard box, with seven separate smaller boxes inside it. All the parts actually arrived, unlike with the standing desk, when some of the parts were missing!
In each of the smaller boxes, well-protected by bubble wrap, was each of the parts, including:
- Armrests (x2)
- Backrest and chair height mechanism
- Seat
- Headrest
- Base chassis
- Backrest
- Screws, Allen key, rollers and assembly instructions
The setup is fairly straightforward. The instructions are clearly laid out and do a good job of setting out the process step by step. It should take between 20-30 minutes to build the BS11 PRO, provided you’ve given yourself enough space to assemble the chair and as long as you follow the instructions carefully.
Design and build quality
The first thing you notice once it’s been assembled is that the FlexiSpot BS11 Pro is sturdy and well-built. The design is modern and ergonomic and, in terms of looks, it strikes the right balance between subtle modernity and sleek style.
The FlexiSpot BS11 Pro comes in three colours: grey, black and light blue. Whichever colour you choose, this ergonomic office chair has a minimalist style that will fit right in within a typical modern office space. Even if you’re planning to use it within an ‘off-the-wall’ multicoloured creative space, this chair has got the style to pull it off.
In terms of build, the seat, backrest and headrest are covered in a breathable elastic mesh fabric, which enables air to circulate – particularly useful for longer periods of seating.
The rest of the chair is made from a soft, high-quality plastic, with metal components for the rocking mechanism at the back. Also, the wheels are well-designed and well-made, with a nice smooth movement across the floor.
All in all, the chair feels robust and you get the feeling it will stand the test of time.
Customization
Ergonomic chairs can be quite frustrating at first. Especially when there are many different adjustments you can make. However, it’s worth putting the time in to find your perfect sitting position.
This ergonomic office chair is very customizable. Plus, it's really easy to tweak until you've found your ideal setup.
The seat height can be adjusted with the lever on the right hand side and the angle of the backrest can be changed via an easy-to-reach lever on the left hand side – the backrest tilts up to 60°, meaning you can kick back and relax in between break periods or when in a meeting or watching webinars, for example. It can be locked back into position to remain rigid when you want to maintain a good posture.
The adjustable arm rests can be moved forwards, backwards, outwards and inwards, giving you plenty of options to find your sweet spot. These arm rest adjustments are easy to do and should ideally be made level with the desk. There's also an adjustable headrest that can be adapted for extra tall people.
While you can adjust the height of the chair, you can't adjust the seat depth, although it's very comfortable and should suit most people.

Comfort
If you've ever used an ergonomic office chair, you'll know just how comfortable they can be. At first, they can feel a little strange, but after a while the ergonomic design wins you over.
The back of the chair curves into your back, offering great lumbar support. Office chair design typically doesn't do this – many office chairs become really uncomfortable after just a couple of hours.
The BS11 Pro is very comfortable from the off. The comfort level becomes even more apparent when you've used it for hours. From the soft seat cushion and excellent lumbar support to the breathable material at the back to keep you nice and cool (ideal, especially for summer), this chair is definitely made for long term comfort. There's no doubt that the mesh fabric is more comfortable than the solid-based cushioning of traditional office chairs.
Although the arm rests are easily customisable, allowing to find the right height and angle for your body posture, they aren't as comfortable as they could have been. It would have been nice if the arm rests were properly cushioned, as the rigid plastic begins to feel a little uncomfortable after a while.

What to look for in an ergonomic office chair
Design and build quality
The materials of the chair should be durable and well-made. If the plastic is shoddy and easily breakable, the chair won't last more than a couple of years.
The ergonomic design is also key. Look for a chair that provides adequate upper and middle back support. If you're going to be sitting for expended periods of time this is crucial.
The material of the seat and the back of the chair are also important. A great chair will offer excellent breathability and cushioning.
Customizability
Being able to adapt the chair to your perfect settings and requirements is a great feature to have in an office chair.
A comfortable chair should have height adjustment, an adjustable headrest, adjustable armrests and a tilt function for maximum back support.
Price
There are some really good bargains when it comes to ergonomic office chairs. Depending on your budget, you might be able to find a very good deal – particularly when it comes to the Holiday Season.
Expect to pay at least $250 for a quality ergonomic chair and up to a whopping $750. You won't need to pay the upper limit of the price range however, as there are plenty of good options available at a far more affordable price point.

Ergonomic chairs FAQs
Are ergonomic chairs worth the money?
It depends on the chair you're buying and the amount you're spending. Generally though, if you do your research and find a good deal, ergonomic office chairs are certainly worth the money.
Just think of the amount of time you spend sitting. Whether it's while working from home during the day or working into the evening or even watching films, we spend more and more time sitting at our desks.
This potentially leads to issues with your spine, muscles, joints, nerves, cartilage and tendons, as well as issues with blood circulation. Spending a little extra on a comfortable chair seems like a sensible decision when we think of the health effects of poor seating.
How long can you sit in an ergonomic chair?
It depends on the quality of the chair and whether or not you can adjust it to your perfect size. A high quality ergonomic office chair that has been adjusted to your specific size and comfort settings enables sitting for long periods of time – up to and beyond 8 hours.
How much do ergonomic chairs cost?
Ergonomic office chairs vary in price, usually from $250 to $750.
Are ergonomic office chairs good for gaming?
Absolutely. Gaming chairs generally provide support for only a few hours of seating at a time, whereas ergonomic chairs are purpose-built for long periods of seating, providing a level of comfort that goes beyond gaming chairs.
