English doesn’t seem to be the only language which contains words with multiple meanings. Take “tortilla” in Spanish for example. Tortilla can mean the unleavened flatbreads made out of corn or wheat which originated in Mexico, or a Spanish omelette. “Torta” means cake or tart and “illa” is the dimunitive, i.e. it means little cake. We’ve all heard about fusion cuisine but what about “fusion language”? Wouldn’t it be funky to call this posh sandwich a “wrapilla”? Hmmm, contradictorily it sounds like something a big reptile from a famous action movie would eat…
📖 Recipe
Brie & Grape Tortilla Wraps
- Total Time: 15 minutes
- Yield: 4 1x
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 tortilla wraps
- mayonnaise
- salad leaves
- Brie cheese, sliced thinly
- grapes, washed and halved
- salad leaves, washed and shredded
- paprika (optional)
Instructions
- Warm the tortilla.
- In the centre smear 1 teaspoon of mayonnaise along where you are going to put the filling.
- Place the leaves on top of the mayonnaise, then the cheese and grapes.
- Sprinkle with paprika if you like.
- Fold to make a wrap, slice the wrap in half and serve straight away.
- Repeat the process to make the other wraps.
Notes
- You can substitute the Brie with Camembert.
- Flame seedless grapes are my favourite variety of grapes which I used in the photos and recipe. Use black grapes as an alternative.

I must try this! I have done brie in sandwich/wrap/panini forms with stone fruits but never thought of grapes! yum!

Oh, this looks good! I LOVE brie.

What a great combo for a refreshing snack! I agree with adding some walnuts and drizzle on some honey while you're at it!
The Duo Dishes
Interesting mix, although it makes sense. Lots of people like grapes with their cheese. Toss in a walnut or two, and we're sold!

Wrapilla! Oh now you've just created a new word in the dictionary!
