How do you reward yourself after the gym?

After the school run my first stop in the morning is the gym. Having barely eaten anything beforehand, by the time I'm finished I'm absolutely starving and rush home in desperate need of food. Here's where my Froothie Optimum 9400 is a big time saver. If you don't have any thyroid problems, green smoothies are the best way to go, providing your body with the best nutrition on the planet. Unfortunately, I have to steer clear of goitrogens and play with fruit instead.
The POM Wonderful bottle is unique and certainly sticks out on supermarket shelves. Three flavours are available in the UK: a pomegranate and cranberry blend, a pomegranate and blueberry blend, and 100% pomegranate juice. No more messing around with whole pomegranates, struggling to get all the arils out. The juice is sweet and not too tart and is a joy to drink on its own. If you are feeling adventurous you can use the juice, instead of water, as a base for cocktails and smoothies too.
Tropical fruit pairs well with pomegranate and mellows the flavour somewhat. If you have some ripe, or even over ripe, bananas lying around, peel and wrap them in cling film before placing them in the freezer. Not only do the bananas chill the actual smoothie but lends a creaminess to the beverage. The mango adds a ray of sunshine to the flavour but whatever you do, don't forget the mint. It's the secret ingredient and adds a refreshing element to the drink.
The recipe is straightforward to make. Add all the ingredients to the blender and give it a whizz. Enjoy with a handful of unsalted, roasted Wonderful Pistachios for some protein. Your body will thank you as you replenish its muscle glycogen levels.

Gorgeous smoothie idea. Although I am not a banana fan somehow frozen in smoothies I think they are more than okay, and oh how creamy they make the smoothie - more like a shake!

What a beautiful looking smoothie, I hadn't thought about using pomegranate juice. Thanks for reminding me!

Thanks, Kellie & Laura! Just about any fruit juice can be used as a base in a smoothie but I guess water is the healthiest.

Never tried this smoothie but why not, thanks for the idea!

Hmm, given my lifelog loathing of bananas, I have never been a huge smoothis fan... but I do love the sound of the pomegranate and cranberry blend! My personal reward after gym is a glass of Nesquik ;o)
