To say I was sceptical about this book would be a massive understatement.
It seems to me these days every Tom, Dick and Harry (or Mary, Jane and Susie) of a celebrity brings out a cookbook. Sometimes it is to squeeze out the last drop of money from their stardom and at others a desperate attempt to remain relevant. Before now I’ve never heard of Melinda Messenger and eyed the book with suspicion.
The following three random recipes were prepared from this cookbook:
Hoisin & Honey-Glazed Chipolatas
Red Lentil, Tomato & Coconut Soup
What a pleasant surprise it was that all the recipes were successful on the first attempt! Instructions were clear, ingredients used readily available and the cooking not complex. The family photos give the book a personal feel but it borders on corny. Although all recipes don’t have accompanying photos, the vibrant book is still a joy to page through. Every family who enjoys simple, yet satisfying food should have this book on its cookery shelf – highly recommended!
