Who hasn’t been on a diet yet?
I have been on plenty and truth be told the only diet that had ever really worked for me was Weight Watchers. As soon as I popped out Robyn I jumped back on Weight Watchers and have lost 10kg so far. When I get my groove back I’ll lose another 10kg and another…. Hang on a minute. Did I just divulge how fat I am?! Let’s talk about these cookies instead.
Oaty Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies
For those of you who like their cookies on the plain side with drops of chocolate in them, these cookies are for you. They are quite chewy because of the oats. Unfortunately, vegetable oil is used and an undesirable oily film remains in the mouth after the last biscuit has disappeared. Why hasn’t butter been used? Because it has a higher POINT value than vegetable oil.
Double Choc Chip & Orange Mini Cookies
Although I usually steer clear of all orange flavoured food these cookies were my favourite. Orange flavours tend to be quite overwhelming but in the cookies it struck just the right balance which made for enjoyable nibbling. A clever psychological trick was to make the cookies small so that there were more of them, giving you the impression you ate a lot!
The first thought that went through my head was that the cookies’ packaging was rather clunky. Lots of plastic with very little content. If the cookies were actually packaged in compact, recyclable material you would realise how expensive the product is. Each pack contains five mini-bags weighing 22g each, selling at shops for about £1.45. A quick look on the net shows Tesco selling 250g Chocolate Chip Cookies for 49p. And if you like something more fancy, there’s McVitie’s Boasters Chocolate Chunk of 130g for £1.
Let’s forget about the price for one second and remind ourselves what Weight Watchers’s unique selling point is. It saves you time to bake your own biscuits and meticulously calculate the points of each one. Busy people with very little time on their hands will treasure these bags of goodies, knowing they can indulge and it will only cost them 1½ POINTS each. It sure makes life easier.
