Crunchy, chocolatey and incredibly tasty this Malteser Tiffin is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Tiffin

  • 150g (2/3 cup) unsalted butter
  • 125g (5 tbsp) golden syrup
  • 200g (1 1/2 cups) milk chocolate, chopped
  • 200g (1 1/2 cups) dark chocolate, chopped
  • 200g (2 cups) digestive biscuits, roughly chopped
  • 200g (7oz) Maltesers
  • 100g (3/4 cup) dates, pitted and finely chopped

Topping

  • 200g (1 1/2 cups) milk chocolate, chopped
  • 100g (3/4 cup) dark chocolate, chopped
  • 50g (2oz) Maltesers, chopped
  • 50g (2oz) Maltesers, whole

Instructions

  1. For the Tiffin: Line a 20x20cm (8x8in) baking tray with parchment paper and set aside for later.
  2. Place the unsalted butter and the golden syrup into a saucepan. Melt the ingredients over a low heat. Once the liquid has started to bubble, remove from the heat and add the chopped milk and dark chocolate and stir until melted.
  3. Place the digestive biscuits, maltesers and dates in a large mixing bowl. Pour the chocolate mixture over the top and mix together thoroughly.
  4. Pour into the lined baking tray and set aside.
  5. For the Topping: In a different bowl place the milk and dark chocolate and melt in the microwave on 30 second blasts until fully melted. Pour over the top of the tiffin mixture and level out.
  6. Sprinkle over the chopped and whole maltesers and then place in the fridge to set, this should take about 4 hours.
  7. Once set, remove from the fridge and turn out onto a chopping board. If you are serving it as a dessert then you should get 8 good sized pieces out of this. As a small treat, slice it up into 16 portions. Enjoy!

Notes

  • If you don’t like dates then you can substitute them for equal quantities of raisins or even leave them out all together.
  • This recipe will work with whichever combination of milk and dark chocolate you choose. If you only want milk or dark that will work but I prefer the equal mix. Unfortunately, this recipe will not work if you try to substitute the chocolate with white chocolate.
  • The Malteser Tiffin will last in the fridge for around 2 weeks.
