Description

You've used up the rest of the marrow and don't know what do do with the seeds? Turn them into this tasty snack and make Roasted Marrow Seeds.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 120g (1 cup) raw whole marrow seeds
  • 15ml (1 tbsp) coconut or avocado oil
  • 1g (1/4 tsp) salt

Instructions

  1. Boil the scooped seeds for 20 minutes in salted water.
  2. Remove all the guts from the seeds, then rinse under a running tap.
  3. Dab with a paper towel, then arrange the seeds in a single layer on a baking sheet. Leave to dry overnight, but preferably 24 hours.
  4. Preheat the oven to 160°C (325°F).
  5. Sprinkle the seeds with the oil and a pinch of salt. (This is your opportunity to get creative with your seasonings, such as curry powder, peri peri, etc.)
  6. Bake for 30 minutes, or until crisp and light golden brown. They may need roasting longer if they’re bigger in size.
  7. Leave to cool slightly, then serve immediately. Enjoy!
