Popular Substitutions for This Recipe
- Butter - use unsalted butter instead to have control over the amount of butter in your recipe. This is helpful if you are on a low sodium diet or are sensitive to salt. You can add a pinch of salt yourself or omit the salt completely. However, small amounts of salt help to bring out the sweetness in a recipe.
- Sugar - Instead of granulated sugar, swap in caster sugar in a 1:1 ratio. Caster sugar is finer, so it dissolves quickly and mixes into other ingredients well.
- Egg yolk - if you want to make an eggless version of this recipe, swap out the egg yolk for vegetable oil or coconut milk in your cookie dough. The egg yolk helps to enrich the flavor and texture of your cookies, so replacing it with another liquid will change the taste but provide the needed moisture.
- Gluten-free - to make this recipe gluten-free, use 1:1 gluten-free flour in place of plain all-purpose flour
- Self-Raising Flour - instead of plain flour, use the same amount of self-raising flour and omit the bicarbonate of soda.

Candy - you can substitute the Kinder chocolate for any other candy you prefer, including plain chocolate chips.
