Equipment Needed To Make This Recipe

There are a few key items you’ll need to make this recipe:

    • 9 x 13 inch (23 x 30cm) baking tin – this is the best sized tin to get the right cookie bar consistency
    • Stand mixer – this will make your life so much easier when it comes to whisking up your cookie dough mixture. Use a stand mixer to easily cream your butter and sugars together before adding in the egg and vanilla paste
    • Airtight storage container – the best way to keep your cookies fresh

    Ice cream

A scoop of your favourite ice cream on top just makes it even better. Try Hokey Pokey ice cream, Tin Roof or Rum & Raisin.

    Popular Substitutions For This Recipe

    • You can swap kinder chocolate for normal milk chocolate, using milk chocolate chips on top of the cookie dough.
    • If you don’t have bicarbonate of soda, you can swap it for baking powder – you’ll need to use 2 tsp of baking powder.
    • To make this recipe gluten free, swap the plain flour for gluten free flour. This recipe calls for Kinder chocolate bars which, unlike Kinder Bueno bars are gluten free.
    • You can use unsalted butter in place of salted if you want.

    Variations To This Recipe

You can use dark brown sugar or light brown sugar. Dark brown sugar will produce a richer caramel flavour.

    How do I store leftovers?

Store your leftover bars in a container for up to 7 days at room temperature. Although, if you can make it a whole week without scoffing the lot, you deserve a medal!

    Can I Freeze This Recipe?

Freezing these cookie bars is a good way to extend their shelf life beyond a week. They actually freeze quite well. Simply store them in an airtight freezer-safe container – they’ll keep fresh in the freezer for up to six months.

How do I Thaw This Dish?

To defrost your frozen cookie bars, leave them to thaw at room temperature.

    Can this recipe be scaled?

Yes, this kinder cookie bars recipe can be scaled, although you’ll have to use a large tin. You can double or treble the amounts below to make a large batch.

Can I use a bigger baking tin?

Yes you can. I recommend you use a 9 x 13 in (23 x 30cm) baking tin, but if you use a different size you’ll have to adjust the baking times. For a larger tin, you’ll need to reduce the baking time slightly, as the mixture will be spread thinner; while for a small tin, you’ll need to increase the baking time.

How do I know when it’s ready?

The baked cookie dough should be firmly set and lightly brown on top.

    • Kinder cookies – chewy, chocolatey and blissful
    • Kinder Bueno brownies – these gooey brownies are absolutely sensational!
