Equipment Needed To Make This Recipe
Before you don the apron and get blondie baking, there are a few essential items you'll need to hand:
- 30 x 20 cm (12 x 8 inch) baking tin – the blondie baking tin of choice. You can also opt for a square tin, but for me a 12 x 8 inch rectangular tin works best with this recipe.
- Stand mixer – you want to be able to work that blondie batter into a silky smooth consistency. For this, only a stand mixer will do.
- Kitchen scales – for the ultimate blondie, precision is essential. Don't guess measurements! Make sure you've got a good quality set of kitchen scales and follow the recipe amounts to a T.

Popular Substitutions
- If you can't get hold of vanilla paste, you can replace it with vanilla extract. So, instead of adding eggs and vanilla paste to create your batter, you add eggs and vanilla extract. Substitute at a ratio of 1:1 – so, one teaspoon of vanilla extract for one teaspoon of vanilla paste in this instance.
- Add white chocolate chips in place of chopped white chocolate if you prefer.
- You can replace light brown sugar with regular caster sugar
Top Tips
- Add the flour slowly to your batter mix. This is the trick when it comes to getting a deliciously smooth blondie mixture texture and consistency.
- Don’t forget to scrape the sides of the bowl to ensure everything is evenly distributed.
What are blondies?
They're the fabulous flip-side to brownies. Taking the same idea as the gooey chewy brownie, blondies have most of the same types of ingredients and cooking process, yet the key difference is the type of chocolate in the mix.
Whereas brownies use dark chocolate, blondies use white chocolate. This gives them a lighter, milkier chocolate taste, as opposed to the deep rich chocolatey taste.
How do you know when blondies are ready?
These Kinder blondies need to bake for around 35 minutes. Keep in mind though, that this is just a general guideline. Different ovens work differently and some need more time than others.
My oven took around 45 minutes to achieve the perfect consistency, so make sure you're aware that you'll need to check your brownies regularly after around 30 minutes.
If you notice that the edges of the blondie mixture has started to turn a lovely golden brown, it's most likely ready to remove from the oven.
Give the tin a slight shake. You're looking for a slight wobble in the centre of the mixture, together with the golden brown colouring around the outside. As the blondies cool completely, the mixture will continue to cook.
The most important thing is the old fashioned skewer test. Insert a wooden or metal skewer or toothpick into the thick blondie mixture – if the skewer or toothpick comes out with a few wet crumbs, almost clean and not covered in gooey batter, then it is ready.
Should blondies be wet in the middle?
The best blondies are slightly moist in the middle. A perfect blondie should be crisp and firm on the outside and slightly gooey on the inside.
What should I do if my brownies are underdone?
It could be that your oven wasn’t hot enough. It could also be because you removed them from the oven too early. It could even be that you over mixed the blondie batter. Whatever the reason, there are time when your blondies will seem undercooked and in need of being fixed.
If your blondies need to be fixed, simply cover them with foil to prevent them from drying out, then return them to the oven and check after 5 minutes. If they're still not done, return them to the oven again and repeat, checking every 5 minutes until done.
How do you store Kinder Bueno blondies?
It's best to keep blondies at room temperature in an airtight container. They'll last up to five days.
If you keep brownies in the fridge, it will extend their lifespan by a day or so. However, you'll lose some of that wonderful gooey texture. Plus, there's no way these bad boys are going to last a week... they're just too irresistible!
Can you freeze blondies?
Yes, you can freeze blondies. You'll need to allow the blondies to cool completely. Then, flash freeze them on a baking tray. This involves freezing them for an hour or so to prevent them from sticking together.
Next, place the frozen brownies into an airtight container. They will stay fresh for up to three months.

Kinder Bueno Blondies
- Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
- Yield: 12 portions 1x
- Diet: Vegetarian
Description
These Kinder Bueno Blondies are easy to make and loved by all. Get the kids involved!
Ingredients
- 200g (¾ cup) butter, melted
- 250g (1 ¼ cup) light brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 5ml (1 tsp) vanilla paste
- 275g (2 ¼ cups) plain flour
- 9g (1 tbsp) cornflour
- 150g (12) mini Kinder chocolate bars
- 150g (7) Kinder Bueno bars
- 93g (5 tbsp) Nutella
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C/fan 160°C/355°F/gas mark 4.
- Line a 30x20cm (12x8in) baking tin with non-stick parchment paper.
- Using a stand mixer preferably, whisk the melted butter and sugar together until the mixture gets light and creamy. Due to the size of the sugar specks, this will take a little while.
- Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until the mixture is smooth.
- Keep the mixer running on a slow speed and add the flours one tablespoon at a time until everything is incorporated. Don’t forget to scrape the sides of the bowl to ensure everything is evenly distributed.
- Break the Kinder bars into pieces and fold it into the batter.
- Use half of the Kinder Bueno bars, break them in segments and fold them in as well.
- Tip the mixture into the lined tin and spread it into an even layer.
- Heat the Nutella slightly (a quick zap in the microwaves will do!) to make it more pliable. Drop dollops of Nutella onto the blondie’s surface in random places, then take a skewer to create swirls.
- Decorate the blondie with the remaining Kinder Bueno chocolate.
- Bake for 35 minutes, or until cooked. My oven took a good 45 minutes until it was done. Use the skewer test, i.e. it should come out cleanish, not covered in gooey batter.
- Once the big blondie has cooled, cut into portion sizes. Enjoy!
Notes
- Feel free to play around with the ratios of the different types of chocolate. You can use just Kinder chocolate or Kinder Bueno bars. Don’t forget there’s a white chocolate version of Kinder Bueno bar, if you want to change things up. You can use all the chocolate in the filling and use even more chocolate to decorate the top of the blondies.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days. It won’t last that long though!
